HOW TO USE THE SINGLE EUROPEAN EMERGENCY NUMBER 112

Today the new single number for all emergencies is 112. In case of an emergency, you need to call him and explain these three things to the operator:

  1. Who are you?

  2. Where are you?

  3. What are you seeing?

A little parenthesis on conscience. A patient is conscious if he opens his eyes and responds to stimuli. If not, the operator must be told that the person is unconscious.

It is important to know that, in an emergency, you must never: move, lift or move the patient (except in special cases, such as the presence of a fire), remove protective helmets, administer food, water, medicines. You have to stay close to the person to be rescued and wait for the ambulance.

If cardiac arrest is suspected, and in the vicinity of an AED, using it could save the patient's life. In fact, the AED, in case of failed cardiac arrest, does not release any shock. If not, it releases it, and a recorded voice guides the user step by step.
